In the fierce competition era, Creative industry (Non farm sector industry in rural background) can be a source of new employment and provide sustainable year round contribution to the revitalization of rural and depressed urban communities and to their significant participation in the economy.
Creative industries can be defined as those industries which produce tangible or intangible artistic and creative output, and which have a potential for income generation through the exploitation of cultural assets of communities and the production of knowledge-based goods and services (both traditional and contemporary).
In today’s context Craft, Farm Gate Processing, Advertising, Art and Antiques, Architecture, Design, Fashion, Film, Interactive leisure, Music, Performing Arts, Publishing, Television and Radio, Social Media, On line content creations etc., could all be called as Creative Industry. With higher and higher internet speed and spread, cheap and easy data availability to masses, creative industry sector, which does not require huge investment to start with, is exponentially rising and creating massive opportunities. Different State Governments should work on the policies by clubbing the various cluster, handicraft promotion policies. Or even Khadi which is quite organized and have already spread its wings/ presence felt in fashion and creativity could take the lead.
When income increases to a level such that basic needs are met, a demand for goods with an ethnic identity is created, leading to market differentiation and thus opening opportunities for creative-cultural industries, located in both industrialized and developing countries.
Creativity has been defined as the ability to bring into existence something new, whether it be an artistic object or form, a solution to a problem or a method or device. The creation of a work of art is the bringing about of a new combination of elements pre-existing in the medium.
This concept, if applied to the production of crafts would then involve the re-formation of pre-existing elements such as heritage, tradition, skills and raw materials.

These industries constitute a complex and heterogeneous field that ranges from artisan products, to visual and performing arts, the recording industry, cinema and audiovisual media as well as multimedia including digital art to publishing and entertainment, social media and represent one of the most dynamic sectors globally.
In addition to ‘Creativity’, human capital requires skills and talent, entrepreneurial attitude, ingenuity and motivation. For human capital to produce growth it is necessary that development professionals acknowledge the importance of creativity and innovation in the course of promoting sustainable development.
